A moment of clarity…
It was a rainy spring morning in Chicago. I was off to yet another company-sponsored breakfast conference. Per usual, I was running a little behind due to the typical Chicago traffic that is exponentially worse in the rain during rush hour. The panel of speakers this dreary morning consisted of women executives answering the standard, generic questions. The blandness of the conversation mimicked that of the continental breakfast. Then, the microphone came to a beautiful, bold, articulate woman who struck me. She was not an executive in corporate America, but a fashion designer that brought a fresh perspective to the conversation. Her words resonated with me and I found her candor and honesty refreshing. She challenged the audience to pursue work and a life we are passionate about. Her story was personal, yet generic; unique yet generalizable.
At this moment, I wanted to learn more about her life story. How did she courageously change her life and chase her dreams? What life lessons can she impart on me? How can I achieve my potential and leave my own mark on the world?
Some call it being inspired, an awakening, a sense of being – call it what you will. I had a vision of traveling the world and interviewing inspiring women from all walks of life. I wanted to build a resource where we can all learn from the stories of others and share this with the world.
Each and every one of us has a story, a unique path that defines all of us. It doesn’t matter who you are, where you live or what your job title is. Everyone has a legacy to leave on the world and I wanted to provide a platform for sharing these stories. This was the genesis for Project Legacy, my moment of clarity.
